I thought I would do a good throwback and share a what's in my "everyday" makeup bag type of post. I write everyday in inverted commas because I don't wear make up everyday anymore. Before working from home became a thing I would wear makeup everyday, now I think I wear it twice a week (that includes a weekend).
I used to love these types of blog posts, I am a nosey nelly and if a product can make it into someone's everyday makeup bag then that must mean it's worth trying for myself right?
So, what is in my "everyday" makeup bag?
Base/Complection
The primer I'm really enjoying at the moment is the e.l.f Power Grip Primer. It's a bit of a cult favourite at the moment and for good reason. I like how hydrating it feels and how tacky it goes. I can't say it smooths my skin but I do notice that my foundation lasts longer around my nose than it does if I don't wear this. My nose is the first place that makeup separates on me and without this on, my foundation is practically gone by the time lunch comes round.
Next up is Lumene CC Colour Correcting Cream. I love this, I literally couldn't rave about it more. To me, this is lighter than a foundation but has a light to medium buildable coverage. This does well at covering my redness when my rosacea isn't flaring up but my only negative is that I have to set it with powder, if I don't then it'll wipe of if I touch my face. It does sit on top of the skin if you don't set it.
That leads me nicely onto a new addition to my makeup bag which is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I can see why this is a favourite to many, I like how soft my skin feels after applying it and I have no complaints about creasing in lines (which is inevitable and is never not going to happen when your face is as expressive as mine).
Currently, I'm using the NARS Cosmetics Radiant Creamy Concealer. I've been on the hunt for a concealer that doesn't cling to anything on my skin and this one is lovely. I really like how this looks under my eyes and it covers my redness on my nose really well.
I've recently delved into the cream product world and although I'm still learning how to apply correctly, I love it! I've been using the Revolution Ultra Cream Bronzer which is a great price for something I'm learning how to use. There have been a few times where I've applied way too much and looked like an oompa loompa. A little goes a long way. I've learned to apply the product onto the back of the hand first - do not make the mistake I did and apply straight to the face!
The Laura Mercier Blush in All That Sparkles is the only blusher that I've worn since last Christmas. This is stunning! It's so pretty! I like that it's subtle for everyday use but buildable if I want more of a makeup look.
Brows
I've never been one to spend much time on my brows if I'm honest. I keep it fairly simple... I fill them in with the Makeup Revolution Precise Brow Pencil and then set with the Benefit 24 Hour Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel.
Eyes
For my "everyday" quick and easy makeup I won't wear any eyeshadow, I'll just curl my lashes and use the Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Mascara. I am yet to find a Mascara that I really love and stay loyal to. I'm always looking out for recommendations so please let me know if you have any.
Lips
I first used the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick back in 2013 when the Charlotte Tilbury make up counter launched in the Birmingham Selfridges store. I was invited to the launch event and had the privilege to meet Charlotte herself. That was one of those pinch me moments that I'll never forget. Pillow Talk has been a core lip product in my bag ever since. It's my everyday shade and it's what I wore on my wedding day. I don't think I'll ever be without my Pillow Talk lippy.
I was introduced to Peaches & Cream Lip Gloss when I had my wedding makeup trial. I loved the colours the makeup artists used so I purchased Original Nude Lip Gloss set and will apply one on top of Pillow Talk. These are dotted between every handbag I'm currently using which means I've always got one of the shades on me and they all look lovely on top of Pillow Talk.
Ofcourse, I couldn't not share my reality. Our beautiful Golden Retriever Monty had to get in on the action and wanted to show you his mommy's makeup too.
What products are in your everyday makeup bag? Do you have any classics that you've been repurchasing for years?
