Who wouldn’t love to receive a monthly box filled with multiple beauty products to try out?
Many years ago I subscribed to Glossybox and found many of my favourite beauty products and brands from that subscription. It's been a good few years since I've been subscribed to a service like this and when I was browsing Look Fantastic the other week, I couldn't help add the 3 month subscription to my basket and see if this this kind of subscription was still worth it all these years later.
With the Look Fantastic Beauty Box you get 6 beauty products worth over £50 each month.
When the box arrived a few days later I was really excited to see whats inside and enjoy the experience of opening something that is a monthly treat. Firstly, I want to clarify that the only comparison of this type of subscription that I have is Glossybox, I've not seen much of others although I know there are plenty.
As you can see, I ripped open the outer cardboard box rather messily because I thought there would be a lovely decorated box inside that contained the goodies 🙈. Sadly, there wasn't and I was a little disappointed by that. It just made the experience feel less like a special treat. I do however, understand that we're in an age of producing less waste and that is something I am totally onboard with but, I used to keep my Glossybox boxes and reuse them for storage as they were so pretty, especially if they had a limited edition box or a celebratory box. This was just a small disappointment but as I said, made the experience feel a little less of an exciting treat.
So, whats inside the October Edition?
Pai Resurrection Mask (20ml travel size) - Full size RRP £44
When I was looking on Look Fantasic to see how much a full size product of this would be, I was really surprised to find that it's not for sale on their site. If I was to purchase this after trying the mini, I'd need to buy if from the Pai website or John Lewis which I find odd - why include something that you can't buy from Look Fantasic.
I've only used this once but it's really nice. It's very thick but doesn't feel heavy when applied. One thing that I did notice was how warm it felt when I was rubbing it into my face, it felt really nice. You apply this to clean, dry skin and leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with warm water. My skin felt very soft and I'm looking forward to using it again.
Glov Ultrasoft Reusable Pads - Pack of 3 £5.90
I couldn't find these exact pads online but you can buy the ones linked in the header from Look Fantastic.
These really are ultra soft, they are lovely to wipe over your face when cleansing. The two you get in the box are very small, I'd say a similar size to a cotton round so good for around the eyes.
ELEMIS Frangipani Monoi Shower Cream (50ml travel size found here) - £10.50
Personally, I don't spend a lot of money on Shower Gel, I don't need to. I don't have any skin conditions/concerns on my body that needs any extra care or specific ingredients. So this Elemis Shower Gel is not one I would purchase myself so I'm pleased it came in the box. It smells incredible, it feels luxury, not like my £1.50 shower gel from Tesco. I enjoy it but my £1.50 shower gel does the job it needs to everyday and it doesn't pain me to watch it go down the drain so this isn't one I would spend my money on. I'm glad I got to try it though.
My only other experience with Elemis is that I have the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel which I love (it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin at all). I would love to try more of their skincare products as I've only ever heard great reviews.
Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask (20ml travel size) - RRP £10
I am yet to try this product but am very happy it's in this months box. I love the Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Frizz Reduction and Heat Protection Hair Oil. I currently have Nano Ring hair extensions in which I had put in for my wedding in June. They were a pricey investment so I'm keeping them maintained for as long as I can and hair masks are going to help them look their best for as long as possible. Really excited to try this.
This is actually my favourite product out of all in this months box. Not a brand that I've heard of before but I've been using it every night after I cleanse and moisturise my face and it feels so nourishing. Its a lovely product to add into my evening skincare routine. Not that I've eaten it, but if you end up getting a little bit in your mouth it tastes really nice. It reminds me of the Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub but I really like the applicator that this one comes in. I found the Lush one to be rather messy to scoop out but with this applicator there's no mess, no crumbling. I really like it and will repurchase when this runs out.
Avant Gentle Rose Beautifying Face Exfoliant (50ml) - 60ml RRP is £92.02
I was a bit apprehensive about using this product as it has a grain/salt texture which I don't usually use on my skin as it can irritate my rosacea but they felt very small so I thought I'd give it a try and I won't use again if I find it irritating. Which it didn't. It's a mildly rough texture but doesn't feel too abrasive. My skin felt very soft after using this but it's not one I would use more than once a week. Personally, it's not one that I would purchase, especially with the price being £92 I think if I was to ever spend that sort of money on skincare it would have to be something that was prescribed to me by a dermatologist because my rosacea has got out of control. If I wanted a scrub like this I'd purchase the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator. It's so much cheaper and leaves my skin feeling the same.
